User Experience Designer

Design cognoscente, actively involved in all phases of the project — with tasks ranging from user research, information architecture, to user interface and visual design. I have also dabbled in product management, where analytics drive decision makers and good experience is key to sales growth.

Since the start of my career, my primary focus has been small startups, independent business owners, or stealth companies looking for mockups and clean well-thought out product definitions to champion them in a pitch to angel investors.

Process

1 Discovery

In the past, I conducted ethnographic research and informal interviews at physical therapy clinics. I used Survey Monkey to identify pain points for a mobile startup. I held persona workshops and focus groups. The findings were invaluable in making design and technology decisions.

2 Information Architecture

The foundation for navigation is established – site hierarchy, taxonomy, and user flows. I always create a flow diagram first. It helps to identify all the needed use cases before I dive into the details of each screen. Flows are immensely useful when communicating my design ideas.

3 Interaction Design

The bulk of my work consists of designing the interface and communicating the solutions to stakeholders. My tools are prototypes, wireframes, and a beautifully designed Keynote deck to present a strong case.

4 Testing & Analytics

I am a huge proponent of data-driven design. Once upon a time as an intern, I illustrated icons that outperformed in A/B tests. I went on to work at startups where I looked at funnels, heat maps, and user recordings – invaluable tools in understanding user behavior and pinpointing the cause of user drop off’s.
